Old Princethorpians

We are well on our way to updating A History Of Crescent as part of the celebrations to mark the school’s 75th anniversary this year. Originally produced for the 60th anniversary back in 2006, we are adding two new chapters to the booklet this year, focusing on 2007 to 2017 and then from 2017 to the present day.

Former Headmaster Mr Huw Marshall, has been most helpful but we would still love to receive further information and especially pictures.

We are on the lookout for pre 2017 editions of the Circular or its predecessors but would love to hear from anyone who has anecdotes and memories they would be happy to share.

Over the summer another special treasure was added to the archives when the College spotted a rare listing on the auction site ebay.

The original Tresors De Confiance En Dieu was quickly purchased and is now held safely within the Foundation's archives.

The book written in French, tells of the Order of Benedictine nuns who fled the French Revolution in 1792. After a period elsewhere in England, they settled in Princethorpe (Warwickshire) in the mid 1800s building the Priory which we know today as Princethorpe College.

Literally translating as 'Treasures of Trust in God ' we were more than delighted to add this treasure to our archives. It is a lovely old book in great condition.

Within the school archives there is a huge collection of photos, that we know our alumni community always enjoy seeing. Back in the summer, before she moved on to a new role, our Archivist, Catherine Lewis, shared a series of photos on the @PFdn_Archives X account. They included:

• 1970s shot of the Science Labs
• 1975 shot of Sixth Formers revising
• Pupils Revising In The Study Hall
• 1960s photo of the first nuns leaving for Fernham
• Form AD on a 1983 trip to Stoke Bruerne
• 1989 photo of preparations for the whole school photo
• 1983 shot of the Photography Club visit to the Fox Talbot museum
